If you’re already a confident cyclist, you’ll find rickshaw and ad bike riding straightforward.
The main difference is that our rickshaws and ad bikes are stable, and braking distance naturally depends on how much weight you’re carrying. Up to three passengers are allowed – though you do need to be pretty fit if they’re strapping young men!
- We provide technical and safety training, and brief riders on responsible use of the road. Then you spend three hours practising on-the-street riding, accompanied by an experienced trainer.
- We also help you through the paperwork needed to register as a street trader for ply-for-hire pedicabbing.
- Our mechanics are on call through our busy Friday and Saturday nights in the unlikely event of a mechanical breakdown. Riders carry a spare tyre in case of punctures (which are thankfully quite rare!).
- We’re also liaising closely with Edinburgh City Council to set standards and operating guidelines for this relatively new transport sector. We keep our riders updated on any developments.
- Our experienced trainer, Richard, explains how it works from the riders’ perspective.
